Thinning The Herd 3/31

If you haven't heard of James Schneider, he's actually a very well known global warming activist. But he's no longer with us as he and a journalist friend were found -- frozen to death! Their bodies were discovered about 90 miles from South Pole Station by a pilot who said, 'There were two snowmobiles with cargo sleds, a tent, and a bright orange rope that had been laid out on the ice, forming the words, 'HELP-COLD'.' According to a friend, Schneider had been planning a trip to an ice sheet to film the devastation brought on by global warming. Remember folks, even if there has been warming in Antarctica, the average temperature at the South Pole still runs about 70 degrees below zero in the spring and summer.

NEAR MISS-A Hong Kong man, taken to the hospital to have a cucumber removed from his bottom, told doctors he inserted it in a suicide attempt. Chin Wei, 62, said the method was a variation of the Japanese ritual suicide hara-kiri - usually carried out with a sword plunged into one's own stomach. He was found in a pool of blood by his daughter before being rushed to the hospital. Medics said a severe tear to the man's anus was not life-threatening.
